Jason got a job....and burst his eardrum!

So...no pictures....but some good news!

Jason has been wanting to get some kind of internship/job in the field of psychology to get some experience, and hopefully help him get into graduate school after this next year....so....he got hired on at Wasatch Mental Health 20 hrs a week to work in the STRIDE program. He'll be working with kids ages 5-12 in an after school clinic for children with social and mental disorders. He's pretty excited.

BUT....last Wednesday Jason was in his diving class and did some kind of twist/fli/crazy thing and landed straight on the side of his face/ear, and ruptured his eardrum....so right now I'm living w/ a half deaf person! He went to the insta care and they gave him some antibiotics and said come back in two weeks and see if it's healed itself....otherwise he'll have to have to surgery!

I'm just boring....working and working some more. Working 5 days a week wears me out! That's about it for now! I'm trying to keep more updated on our blog!

Christmas and such

Okay...so I KNOW that I am WAY behind schedule...but whatever...here is our quick summary. We seriously had christmas like 4 times! Our 1st was at our little apartment before we left so that we didn't have to take presents to Mesa and back. Plus...our week was so busy that we decided to have it Sunday night (like 5 days before Christmas!)

Then we drove to my parents on Tuesday and opened up gifts....then had Christmas Eve and Day at Jason's Mom's house in Mesa
Christmas at his mom's house w/ his brother Jared
My new Running Nike + Ipod shoes....total suprise! So Great!

Then...we met up with the rest of his fam and his Dad and his wife Martha at a cabin in Show Low....and once again opened presents! Here is Jase w/ a sweater from his Dad.

We also went to the snow flake Temple on Saturday after Christmas. It was really beautiful. SUPER SMALL, but amazing. It was fun to go to one of the smaller temples and see how it is run.

The fountain was frozen over

Cafe Rio

I made Cafe Rio the other day! I was pretty proud of myself....it's really not hard at all, just takes a lot of time, and is kind of expensive for just the two of use. But we saved and froze the meat to make enchilada's later. The beef recipe was way good! And overall everything turned out great and very tasty!

Winter Fun...

So Jason and I went ice skating and built a snow man this past week. I forgot my camera, and didn't take any pictures ice skating, but our snow man is freaking awesome! Plus...I have some old pictures we took of the first snow we had here in Provo and when we went snowboarding in St. Goerge over New Years....so....here they are :)

The snow man in progress.... we had a fight over who's snowball was the biggest....Jason thought his was, so it's the base....what do you guys think? It was SO hard to lift that second snow ball up!

Our first snow....back in Nov or something....it was fun...we came out to go to church and everything was white!

Riding the lift....we were the 2nd to last on the lift for the day! Yeahya!!

Eventful Weekend....

So...our weekend was great...and stressful....and full of some wonderful times and then some absoulutely CRAZY RIDICULOUS moments! So....here is the run down...

  • We drove 9.5 hours after work on Thursday to go to Mesa for our friend Steve's wedding in Mesa, AZ on Friday. We couldn't miss two days of work and school...so we got there at 4:00 am Friday morning. We were quite tired....but the sealing and reception were wonderful....and we spent saw and spent time with some of favorite people...we really miss our friends/family down in Mesa! We stayed up late every night, and had a great time!

Stephen and Melinda....so great!

  • Then, on Sunday we drove home, because I was supposed to work on Monday. We wanted to stop by my family in St. George. So we planned to meet up with my family and have dinner. I talked to my mom about 10 minutes out of St. George....then when I got there...THERE WAS AN AMBULANCE AND PARAMEDICS AT MY HOUSE!!!!

I was FREAKING OUT to say the least....we ran inside and found my dad unconscious. My mom said she thinks he had a siezure ( he had fallen two days before and hit his head). So I'm freaking out of course, and we all say a prayer as they are loading him in the ambulance. Then, we rush to the hospital as we call all of our siblings and have them and their families say prayers for him. Well, it wasn't too long before he became conscious (thank heavens!) at the hospital and was doing well, the doctor's said he was stable, and had always been breathing on his own which was good.

We went in and visited with him in his bay in the ER, and my mom and brothers and sisters encouraged Jason and I to get on the road to go home to Provo, and they would call if any complications arise. So, reluctantly we headed on the road.

We had just passed over the black ridge (about 50 miles North of St. George) and I laid back in the seat to just take a breather and relax after such a stressful and awful evening. Then all of a sudden I hear Jason say "OH FREAK..." and BAM!!!! Something hits the car....we swerve to the Left and yep....WE HIT A DEER!

SERIOUSLY???? MY WORD!!! The day just kept gettting worse and worse.....

So here is the damage!

Driving home this morning I saw a portion of the bumper off the side of the road.

Yep....That is Deer Hair stuck in our tire...Mmm hmm..

The good thing is...it mostly hit the passenger side, we don't think there is any engine, or radiator damage....mostly just cosmetic....the adjuster is going to have an estimate for us tomorrow. We also have a rental car, that got us home, so everything is OK! It was just an awful day, and a little stressful today getting everything set up, missing work, and driving home so exhausted! BUT...things have to look up from here, right?
