It has been 1 wk today that my dad passed away. It has been a difficult time for me. He was such an amazing influence in my life. He taught me honesty, hardwork, dedication, love, and importance of family and of the gospel. As all of kids talked....we all felt that we were his favorite. He did such an amazing job of making us all feel loved and cherished.

Even though I knew this day would come, I find myself wondering how I will fare throughout this life without his shining example. He was so full of laughter, and joy, and fun. He always loved a good discussion/argument....especially if it dealt with politics. He was so faithful and loyal to his country.
I am so grateful for his encouragement to always be the best I could be, and the support he gave me in all my endeavors. I am so glad he was able to see me married, and celebrate his 50th anniversary with my mother. I am so saddened that my children will not grow up to know him personally -- only through my memories. BUT...I feel like they will get some quality time before they come to this earth.
I am grateful for the plan of salvation, and through this knowledge making this unbearable loss, more bearable through the love of the Savior.
I'm on my new computer which doesn't have all my old pictures on it....but here are a few from my wedding. I'll try to post a few more this weekend.

Yep--we'll miss him. He will be with us always though and your kids and the rest of mine will have time for him to prepare them for us ;) That's a job! I love you so much and am glad we have each other to make it through life with. I am already looking forward to seeing you again soon!!

I saw your father's obituary this weekend, and our thoughts and prayers continue to be with you and your family. This post is such a wonderful tribute to him.
Here come the tears! Grandpa is for sure missed! But we love him and are so grateful for the example he was and the accomplishments he made! I love him and can't wait to see him again! I love the pictures! Love you so much Shammy; I'm only a phone call away! Can't wait to see you and Uncle Jason!

Shandra, I'm so so sorry to hear about your father's passing. I wish I could have met him, he sounded like such an amazing person. We have kept you and your family in our thoughts and prayers since we found out. Please don't ever hesitate to call if you ever need anything at all.

It's crazy because tonight I was going to ask how your dad was doing and before I had a chance you mentioned that he had passed. I was shocked. I am so impressed that you are keeping your head up and that you are so optimistic. Luckily for the gospel we know that families can be together forever :) I hope though that you are letting yourself cry when you need to. I'm sure you are :) You are such a beautiful person inside and out. I really do look up to you. Thanks for being such an example to me.

Shandra....I am soooo sorry. It breaks my heart. I loved your dad and I loved that for whatever reason he always remembered that Josh was "Durward's boy" :) You have a beautiful perspective and I know that your dad couldn't be more proud of you. I love you.
Oh Shammy! I'm so sorry about your cute dad. He was such a CUTE dad. And, hello, obviously you ARE the favorite as far as I could tell. So so sad. I will be thinking of you.
